Hi and Merry Christmas!  Debra wrote and asked me to contact you regarding getting a hot dog cart...hmmmm...can I recommend these guys to you?  The answer is a resounding yes.

Okay, truth time?  It can be hard work, I've been doing this about seven-eight months now and working almost seven days a week (my soccer league is on break now, so I have Sunday's off!).  But, can it be rewarding?  Another resounding yes!  I am making more now than I did with my fortune 500 company where I was making a good living by San Angelo standards.

The cart came without a scratch or a dent, it even arrived about a day or two early as I recall.  I pestered Debra and Willy both and they couldn't have been nicer...any problem, not even their fault [like a recent blow-out on the highway (I run my cart like crazy!  operating in San Angelo, Menard and Eldorado)] and these guys are quick to offer help, parts, anything!  Another example was that somebody took off a gas dial/handle/um, er, ahhh...whatch-mc-call-it, I couldn't find one locally...asked about it, an BOOM!  It was sent to me immediately, same with a dust cover I lost off the wheel..these guys define customer service and care!

Operating the cart?  Like anything, it takes a little practice (I was totally inexperienced with a cart, though I had managed restaurants before)...but it's pretty easy to move, set-up and use.  My health local inspector passed it immediately, burning his own hand on the stove section and in the hot water in the sink!  That might sound bad, but it was a good thing, because another vendor here has to cook his chili before he leaves his commisary, I don't, per the health department!  Everything still works well, and if I'm not selling hotdogs, I have time to clean, resupply, talk with people...what-ever, because once I set up, everything stays hot or cold and safe to work without constant supervision.  Sometimes, even my 15 year old operates the cart by himself.

People like the way the cart looks, I've set-up deals with a local car dealer (I love this, they buy the dogs and I just give them out), Graham Central Station (I'm at their front door and at closing I sell a lot of dogs), our local railroad museum, soccer league and some small towns near here.

Easy to clean while I'm working, usually just wiping it down, sometimes using a wet rag, once-a-week I run it through a self service car wash...and sometimes I use stainless steel polish, makes it VERY shiny!

One small issue...plumbing.  I have added clamps to the hoses, and changed out the pump.  These guys sent me another for free...and I bought another.  All the pumps seem to be made in China though...and I think the Chinese just put stuff together badly.  I

am looking for an American / Canadian / German...heck, even Mexican made pump, with little success so far.  It's me really...I am just searching for something better (as far as the pump goes).

I don't think you could get a better deal or a better cart anywhere!  Literally, I searched all over, and have talked with all kinds of other hot dog cart operators.  Considering how I drive this cart all over the place at all kinds of speeds (I've been up to eighty on occassions, which I do NOT recommend, but it's worked okay!) I think Willy has put together a hell of a deal and a heck of a bargain with his carts!

Make sure you get the best dogs and buns that you can?  Even in San Angelo and the smaller towns around, people do not mind paying a premium price if they like what they get!  Keep your cart clean and people will LOVE you!

I am making you members of my Jim/E.'s Chicago Style Hot Dogs Yahoo Group, so please check it out and look at my photo album.  When you get your cart set-up and operationg, please add your cart's picture in the other carts / stands folder?  I'll be looking for you guys...and since we're in Texas, maybe one of these days we'll even get a chance to visit!
